Where Los Angeles comes to move and gather

Founded in 1880, the Los Angeles Athletic Club is one of the city’s oldest institutions—established as both a center for physical training and a social club for its members. From early gymnastics halls and civic sports teams to reading rooms and social spaces, LAAC has long existed at the intersection of athleticism, culture, and community in downtown Los Angeles.

We designed and built the LAAC website from the ground up, translating over a century of history into a modern digital experience. Creative direction focused on honoring the club’s legacy without freezing it in time—balancing archival depth with contemporary clarity. Through thoughtful typography, pacing, and imagery, the site reflects LAAC’s dual identity as both a historic institution and a living, evolving place, positioning the club as a timeless fixture in the cultural fabric of Los Angeles.
